What is Memory (RAM)?
A RAM is a short-term memory that allows your computer to run processes like launching applications, listening to music, working with video editing software, etc. RAM switches between different processes super quickly, making it seem like you are running multiple things at the same time.
Having more RAM can help you run your processes a lot faster. It’s same idea as having more food on the countertop if your countertop is really big. If you have a small countertop, you would have less food on top of it.
Goal of the Guide
This guide is to help you how to install a RAM on your motherboard.
Steps
1. Locate the RAM slot on the motherboard
2. Push down the locking tab.
3. Determine where to put the RAM in the slots.
Depending on how many RAMs and the motherboard you have, make sure that you place your RAM at the correct place. Here is a diagram below to see how you should place your RAM into the slots.
4. Line up the RAM stick with the slot and push it down.
Look at the tiny dent in the middle of the RAM. Make it sure to align the dent with the slot, and push the RAM stick straight down until it makes a clicking noise. Apply a little force when needed. This is normal.
When you push it down, the locking tabs will automatically snug the RAM stick.
